A brief and unfinished history of SOW

To know where you're going, you've got to know where you've been.

Son of Wingstock, in many ways, will be the culmination (culmination!) of a long history of momentous events. SOW will be an epic opportunity to honour everything that has made Mr. Chad Winger the man he is today, before he embarks upon the next step of his diagonal journey. SOW will also (and no less) be about Mr. Winger's relationship with his friends.

Son of Wingstock is the descendant of similar celebrations which began many moons ago with Fussapalooza one lovely summer day on July 14, 2004. There remain police logs documenting the late hours of that Fusseriffic event. 2005's Carrie-d Away took our intrepid crew to the lovely city of Montreal for a jazz festival and a few other distractions and machinations. 2006 was the year of the "double-whammy" with the innovative post-wedding celebration known as Joelmageddon. This followed an earlier wilderness escape also in honour of the Joelmageddon namesake. 2007's Gregamania was a multi-city tour de force. From Brantford to Toronto and back again, it destroyed at least one limousine suspension along the way. Indeed, Gregamania rocked hard.

2008 spawned the original Wingstock from a late night Toronto discussion and became a memorable birthday celebration. This could have been the first event to spin-off unique contests such as "Sign Bang." Perhaps the only black eye on Wingstock's handsome mug was the lack of "Gentleman Croke" displayed by some attendees.

This brings us to Wingstock's arguably more momentous Son. At first glance SOW seems a monstrous creation. Some have been more than a little intimidated by its looming shadow. Only time will tell what SOW will bring. Its complete history is yet to be written. But one thing's for sure...if it brings Winger...it's brought enough.

What's that, you're still a little scared of SOW?

Stay tuned for the #1 reason not to be frightened of Son of Wingstock, coming on Wednesday.

And watch for a major SOW announcement coming tomorrow. Major!
